Get groovy with the shaped edge cutter. Use the wave cut to create decorative borders, backgrounds and embellishments to enhance your pages.

View Ribbon > All
Insert Ribbon > Shape > Rectangle
- For horizontal ribbons, make the rectangle wider than the page, or about 13" wide by about 5" tall. (Size does not need to be precise, as long as both ends of the rectangle are well off the page.)
- No stroke
- Create
While rectangle is selected:
- Cut Ribbon > Straight > Shaped Edge
In Operations Panel:
- Shape > Built in kits > Edges > Wave > Select Shape
- Adjust angle of cutter by 90 degrees (if needed)
- Increase aspect ratio to 100
On the cutter:
- Adjust the two outer guides to the size desired
- Grab the cutter and position it towards the top of the rectangle
In the Operations Panel
- Choose the area you want to keep (shaded or unshaded) so that you will be removing the top edge of the rectangle
- Cut
Select the remainder of the rectangle
- Go back to the Cut ribbon > Straight > Shaped Edge
- Using the same cut, position the cutter below the first cut at the width you'd like
- Shift the cutter to one side to create thick and thin areas
- Keep both sections and cut
- Repeat this step until you have as many ribbons as desired
Fill resulting ribbons with the papers of your choice

**Applications**

Create a background
- Select all filled ribbons
  - Right click > Group
- Copy group and paste several times
- Arrange ribbon groups so that they cover the page
- Fill the background of the page with paper
- Select all groups of ribbons
  - Right click > Group
  - Make sure aspect ratio is locked
- View Ribbon > Page
- Select the grouped ribbons
  - Grab one handle of the group and stretch it until the ribbons cover the entire background
Twisted Ribbons
- Select two ribbons that were cut next to each other (in original steps)
  - Lay one ribbon atop the other so that the thinnest portion of each ribbon intersects
- Select the bottom ribbon
  - Cut Ribbon > Shape > Rectangle
  - Position the rectangle to cover one full wave segment
  - Copy (do not cut) that single wave segment
- In the Elements Panel
  - Move the copied segment up so that it covers that same section of the top ribbon
- Repeat these steps for every other wave segment
- If using shadows, apply shadows to the full ribbons and not to the small cut segments
- Group all pieces (segments and ribbons) before moving
Compound Ribbons
- View Ribbon > All
- Select a ribbon (from original steps), making sure both ends of the ribbon extend off both sides of the page
  - Insert Ribbon > Outliner
  - Fill new shape with color or paper
  - On the Quick Access Toolbar (QAT)
    - Change stroke to a compound stroke
      - Increase the size of the stroke (a lot!)
      - Fill stroke with a coordinating color or paper
      - Try adding text or a patterned stroke as
