FOREVER Digitization Connection - Color Restoration

By Debbie Garland

Hello and welcome to this week’s FOREVER Digitization Connection! Today, I would like to talk with you about our Color Restoration service for photos.

Our photos bring back so many great memories, but some have a deeper meaning than others. If your photos are still in decent shape and do not need restoration but are in black and white, we offer Color Restoration - this is different from our Photo Restoration service which helps with photos that are damaged or faded.

You have two options to send photos in for Color Restoration:

  1. Include the original photo in your FOREVER Digitization Box
  2. Digitally send in a scanned version of your photo

If you are including the original photo in your FOREVER Digitization Box, please include any specific color notes that you have. This includes eye color, hair color, clothing color, etc.

To send your items in digitally, please visit the Color Restoration page. After making the purchase, you will receive an email from FOREVER with a link to attach your photo and any notes about color choices.

If you have any reference photos you would like to send in to go with notes about specific colors, please email those reference photos to dgarland@forever.com and include your order number.

The Color Restoration process usually takes a few days but can take longer during the Holiday season. When your photo is finished, it will be uploaded into your FOREVER account in an album titled “FOREVER Restoration.”

I cannot say enough positive things about the difference when a photo has been colorized. I recently came across a newspaper clipping from my mom and dad’s wedding in October 1947. I always thought my mom wore a gray suit for her wedding. Luckily, that clipping had all the colors listed, including the flowers – so I included the newspaper clipping along with my original photo to be colorized. I cannot even explain the feeling and new connection I felt to this photo of my mom and dad's wedding after it was colorized.

I have so many great older photos I would love to have restored and colorized. I'm saving that process for only the extra special ones - the photos that future generations will hopefully connect with and want to explore their history from. The Color Restoration process has brought me so much joy, and I hope you'll find a photo in your collection to try it out for yourself.

Please note that our Photo Restoration and Color Restoration services do not qualify for discounts – other than FOREVER Club.
