From Past to Pixel: Employee Digitization Reflections Part 2
By FOREVER • November 8, 2024
Hello and welcome to this week's FOREVER Digitization Connection! Two weeks ago, we asked some of our FOREVER Digitization Facility Team Members to share their experience of getting their own personal memories digitized. We shared five employee digitization stories, and this week, we have more to share with you!
Celia C. (Operations Associate) - “I had a photo album of my parents’ wedding digitized with FOREVER. Looking at the photos, it seemed like quite a fancy wedding for its time! They were married for over 50 years and had seven kids, so having these memories digitized means so much to me and my big family.”
Eric N. (Director of Digitization) – “I had a photo album just sitting in a drawer with pictures from my boot camp graduation. I thought it would be great to finally have them digitized and safely stored in my FOREVER account. There are a lot of important people in those photos, including my parents, who were extremely happy that I completed boot camp. Let’s just say I was a bit of a challenge as a kid, so it meant a lot to them to see me get things together. There are also friends from boot camp and my drill instructors, who were amazing—they helped me become who I am today. I think it’s really cool to have these memories digitized so I can revisit them whenever I like.”
John L. (Manager of Technology & Data Analytics) – “My dad had these old film reels he hadn’t seen in ages and I had never seen before. Finding out that my grandma was in them back in the 1960s, just a little older than I am now, is really special. It’s amazing to see that she hasn’t changed much from her 30s to now. I’m so glad I had these reels digitized when I did, because some were starting to deteriorate. If I’d waited any longer, I’m not sure how they would’ve looked or if they could have even been digitized.”
Jordan L. (Manager of People Development) - "I’ve digitized many memories over the years—slides, photos, and VHS tapes—and each one has unlocked core memories from my childhood. Watching videos of my brothers and me on our trips to Disney World made for a fun Christmas gathering, filled with laughter and stories we’d completely forgotten. The most amazing discoveries, though, have been the old newspapers and baby photos of my great-grandparents, and even a few of my great-great-grandparents. I was able to digitize these memories and share them with my entire extended family. My great aunts and uncles, who hadn’t seen photos of their grandparents in years, were able to see precious memories from their own childhoods as well. It’s incredible how a simple photo can bring so much joy."
